S
Siena and Monteriggioni
13 March 2020

Siena, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with eternal charm. Must-sees include Piazza del Campo with the Palazzo Pubblico and the civic museum, the Torre del Mangia, the Duomo, the Baptistery and the museum of the Opera del Duomo, the Medici Fortress. But it is the experience of walking through the streets of the city (“sulle lastre”, on the slabs, as the Sienese say), and meeting the palaces, churches, hallways and alleys, breathing the air of the past and the history of the palio, which makes this city unique in the world. Just north of Siena, the village of Monteriggioni is worth a visit: small and perfectly preserved, completely surrounded by the original 13th-century walls, many historical commemorations take place here in summer.
